Lambeth Connected Learning Project
Bishop Thomas Grant is one of the ten Lambeth partner secondary schools making up this Public-Private Finance Initiative, working with the Department for Education and Skills, Research machines Ltd. and Lambeth Education.
The objectives of the project are:
- Raising attainment in all subjects
- Reducing the administrative burden on teachers
- Increasing inclusion
- Increasing student motivation through providing technology-enabled learning
- Bridging the ‘digital divide’
This is an eight-year project which has started with a complete refurbishment of the school’s ICT equipment, including:
- Over 250 brand new computers throughout the school, with new printers, scanners etc...
- Seven, fully equipped state-of-the-art and air-conditioned computer suites
- Interactive teaching technology (data projectors etc..) in more than half the classrooms throughout the school
- A new managed learning environment giving students and teachers access to learning through the internet from anywhere inside or outside school
- Laptop computers for all teachers with wireless networking
- A web-based, fully secure student information system for monitoring attendance throughout the school day, for teachers planning lessons, tracking and recording students’ progress and for reporting to parents
- Facilities for students and teachers to use electronic mail
- Industry-standard, right up-to-date programs including exciting new graphics and multimedia (video, animation, web-design etc.) software
- Renewed school administration computers and software
- On-site technical support ensuring full and continuous service of all equipment
- Guaranteed complete refurbishment after four and eight years
With our newly acquired status as a Mathematics and Computing College the Lambeth Connected Learning Project will make Bishop Thomas Grant School a leader in using ICT to support learning and teaching.
