Much to Celebrate on A-Level Results Day at Bishop Thomas Grant School

Students and staff at Bishop Thomas Grant School in Streatham have every reason to celebrate following the publication of this year’s A-Level results.  With 100% A*- E pass rate in every subject, the vast majority of students will be going to the university of their choice.  The A*/A pass rate is 23%, A*- B is 50%.

This has been a record year for students progressing to Russell Group universities and top achiever Kamil Dreczkowski, who attained A*A*A* in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry is going to read Physics at Imperial College, London.  Axumawi Gebreyohanes is pursuing a career in Medicine at University College London and linguist Cristina Conde Tkatchenko, who attained A*A*A will attend Merton College, Oxford to read History and Spanish.  The London School of Economics will be the future destination for high fliers Christopher Schroeder and Holly-Ann Naegeli.  Twins Antonia and Georgia Papaspyrou have been awarded 5 A*/A grades between them to read English and History together at Birmingham.  Alex Redman, who attained A*s in History and English plans to study Politics and History at Newcastle with Luis Hannoun (AAA in Economics, Mathematics and Physics) progressing to Cardiff for Mechanical Engineering.

Students studying Level 3 BTEC courses at the school in Business and ICT as well as in Sports and Exercise Science achieved exceptional results once again with Luciann Fleet, Shola Adedo, Michael Abreu, Myles Nesbeth and Kerry Woodham all achieving Triple Distinction*, the equivalent of A*A*A* at A-Level.

Students from Bishop Thomas Grant will move on to 45 different institutions across the country next year, including Nottingham, Exeter, Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Sheffield, Southampton, Sussex and Kent.

Headteacher Louis Desa commented: “I am so proud of my pupils, staff and parents and would like to congratulate you for your hard work and support in achieving this excellent set of A-Level and BTEC results.  We are pleased that so many of our students of all abilities have obtained places at universities, with a significant number winning Russell Group places.  We wish them well in the future.  These results further endorse the recent judgement from Ofsted that Bishop Thomas Grant is Outstanding.”
