The second Bishop Thomas Grant School Summer Music Course took place at Dulwich College during the last week of the summer term. All week the school’s talented music students prepared for what turned out to be a splendid concert held in the imposing surroundings of the Dulwich College Great Hall.
In the first part of the concert groups of Bishop Thomas Grant musicians, small choirs and a number of individuals performed the pieces they had been working on during the week - notably Joanna Wocial with her own composition "In Flanders Fields" and a string quartet composition by Year 13 student Stefano Trombetta.
The second half of the performance featured a magnificent rendering of Fauré's Requiem, accompanied by the full school orchestra and choir with solo performances from Callum Onyenaobiya and Matthew Rangel-Alvares. This performance was received by tumultuous applause from the audience, in response to which Director of Music Mrs Poole thanked both the audience for their appreciation and also her colleagues in the music department Mr Beston and Mr Eagles, who had worked tirelessly through the year and for the concert in particular.
Mr Desa then duly thanked Mrs Poole for her leadership and performance for what had been a most wonderful evening's music for everyone connected with Bishop Thomas Grant School.
