Since opening our Sixth Form in September 2009, we have worked tirelessly to establish not only an outstanding post-16 centre in Lambeth, but also one where students can grow and mature in a safe and supportive environment. In August 2017 our Sixth Form results were the best ever with a staggering 59% of all A-level students achieving A*-B grades and 98% of Applied General students achieving Distinction/Distinction* results. Not only were our Year 13 leavers able to pursue courses of their choice, but most progressed onto their firm choices, 38% of which were at Russell Group universities. We are confident that we will yet again be top of the league tables for secondary state schools in Lambeth, a position we have held for three years.
The excellent work in the Sixth Form continues with the current Year 13 cohort. For the past few months the Sixth Form team have been working tirelessly to assist Year 13 students with their university applications. Once again we are in a very fortunate position to have all university applications completed way in advance of the national deadline in January 2018. This year has also seen the largest number of students pursue competitive courses at both Oxford and Cambridge university, as well as courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science.
We are delighted to have had seven students already invited to interviews for a number of these competitive courses. These students are:
- Chiara Alfonso: Economics, Clare College Cambridge
- Blessing Bello: Architecture, Newnham College, Cambridge
- Sean Cobb: Geography, Magdalen College, Cambridge
- Romy Patrick: History, St Catherine's College, Cambridge
- Safia Butler: History, Murray Edwards College, Cambridge
- Tia Bell: Veterinary Medicine at both Surrey and Liverpool
- Amanda Burrows: Physiotherapy at Liverpool
We also still have a number of students waiting for outcomes of their applications to other competitive courses including medicine, dentistry and veterinary sciences. We wish these students, and all of our other Year 13s the most success with their university applications and upcoming interviews. Our students are very deserving and we hope we can build on the excellent results and post-18 destinations from the previous cohort.
Applications for Bishop Thomas Grant Sixth Form are now open and details about the application process, including application forms, can be found on the link to the Sixth Form in the menu on the website.
