Computing & ICT
The Computing & ICT department at Bishop Thomas Grant School prides itself on being a forward-thinking department where students are introduced to the latest hardware and software at the earliest possible opportunity. Our outstanding provision ensures that students are given a modern, vibrant and interactive learning environment both in terms of up-to-date courses and lesson resources as well as excellent teaching expertise.
With a history of outstanding results, the department is always striving to improve the service it offers to its students and parents by encouraging a positive attitude to technology both at home and at school. The department also ensures that it caters to all students’ potential by offering a suite of vocational and academic courses that are fully tailored to each individual’s needs. We have eight fully-equipped ICT suites which are used for the teaching of ICT and these are also used by other departments for accessing ICT across the curriculum. These rooms all have combined black and white and colour printer, photocopier and scanner and interactive whiteboards for multimedia presentations. We also have specialist ICT provision in English as an Additional Language, Special Educational Needs, Design and Technology, Art and Music. Students across the school have access to wireless laptop computers as well as to open access computers in the Learning Support Unit. All teachers have their own laptop computer and most teaching rooms are equipped with data projectors.
