Key Stage 3 Geography
KS3 students (Year 7 and 8) study a varied curriculum which covers human and physical Geography as well as all of the skills required to continue the subject at GCSE and A-Level. Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills are incorporated into the topic areas studied − such as the Restless Earth, Rivers and Floods, and Globalisation. Students complete a wide variety of activities in class and for homework. Students are assessed throughout the year using 9-1 levels (in conjunction with the new GCSE grading system). These assessments are varied in their nature, including essay writing; enquiry-based learning; speaking and listening assessments; and end of unit tests. All pupils sit an end-of-year examination to assess their overall knowledge and understanding from the year and help prepare them for the linear qualifications they will go on to take in KS4 and KS5.
