Extra-Curricular Sporting Enrichment

All students at Bishop Thomas Grant School are encouraged to participate in physical activity by joining one of the many sports clubs offered by teachers and external coaches.  The extra-curricular programme run by the department is extensive.  There are 25 clubs for pupils to choose from each week, before school, at lunch and after school, and attendance is consistently high.  Subsequently we have highly competitive girls and boys sports teams across a range of activities and age groups. Bishop Thomas Grant School sports teams and pupils have been and continue to be successful at local, regional and national level.

The school also runs an excellent Pastoral House System, a key facet of which is the house sports competitions where students participate in a range of sports throughout the year for their house team.  This programme is organised entirely by students and is highly successful in enabling all students to engage in competitive sport at Bishop Thomas Grant School.

Sporting Enrichment is also extended to Sixth Form students every Wednesday afternoon.  Students are offered the opportunity to participate in competitive sports such as Football and Cricket or more social sporting activities which have so far included Virgin Active/Fitness First gym membership, Fencing, 5-a-side football, Table Tennis, Rounders, Dance, Zumba, Kayaking and Canoeing.  The sports on offer each year can vary according to demand and the availability of external venues.
