BTG Students Continue to Raise Funds for House Charities

BTG Students Continue to Raise Funds for House Charities

Just before the February Half Term, Bishop Thomas Grant School received letters of thanks from two charities close to our hearts, Spires and The Children's Trust. Spires helps improve the lives of people who are homeless, unemployed or suffering from mental health issues by providing shelter and support. While The Children's Trust is one of the UK’s leading charities for children with brain injuries, their ambition is for all children with brain injury and Neuro-disability to have the opportunity to live the best life possible.

Nigel Carpenter, Chief Executive of Spires, wrote to our staff and students to thank them for the donations they have provided for Spires saying, “Please pass on our sincere thanks to the children and their families”. Mr Carpenter went on to say how our previous donations have helped many people, including a young man who was offered a job in construction but could not start as he did not have any steel-capped boots. The money BTG donated helped the young man to buy the boots he needed and he has now started work and has come off the streets.

The Children’s Trust thanked BTG for our wonderful donation on £2,616.60. Fiona Thorne, Community Fundraising Manager, spoke of how our donation would be used to fund specialist electronic equipment such as a head mouse on a baseball cap, which enables children to use a computer again. As well as thanking us for our donation, Ms Thorne also mentioned that since 2015 BTG have raised a phenomenal £17,875.10 for The Children's Trust!

Well done to everyone at BTG, keep up the good work.
