Year 10 and 12 Face to Face Meetings and Workshops

Year 10 and 12 Face to Face Meetings and Workshops

As you know, despite school being closed to the majority of students there have been lessons taking place. In this article we hear from a few staff on their experiences.

“The live lessons have been a lovely opportunity to re-connect with the students. I missed real life teaching and although the live online lessons did enable some interaction with students, doing face to face science lessons reminded me of why I decided to become a teacher and emphasised how much I love my job and the students I work with. Year 10 students were eager to learn, and were excited to be in school (I was too!) which created a lovely atmosphere in the classroom. I am looking forward to September and having the opportunity to work with more students again".

“This half term it has been lovely to see some many familiar faces back in school for the face to face interviews and workshops that we have run. I really enjoyed having that time to talk to students about their experiences of lockdown and support them in their next steps. As the year leader of Year 12 to see so many students pleased to be back and wanting to learn was wonderful. I am very much looking forward to seeing you all again in September”

It has been a pleasure to be back in school teaching Year 10. I was very nervous before the first lesson but my class quickly put me at ease. It was great to be back in the classroom, discussing and talking about topics. To be able to give quick and effective feedback and mostly to see the lovely students!

As we are coming to the end of term, I want to congratulate Year 10 on their resilience during this time. The year 10s have shown a great level of maturity in developing their own personal skills to become effective home learners over the last 17 weeks!
During June the year 10s attended successful face to face meetings; I was particularly impressed with how reflective they were about their experiences, both with regards to their education and their personal life.
Since those meetings year 10 have been in school attending workshops in English, Maths and Science. The aim of these workshops has been to help consolidate the content that they have studied at home, in the school environment and to bring the year 10 group back together. Students have definitely been embracing the workshops and have enjoyed having the normality of being back in school.
Again I am very impressed with the year group and I have loved having the opportunity to see them during this lockdown time.
