Internal Mock Assessment in Year 12 Paper 1: Core Physics 1 (Internal exam) 80 marks 1 hour 30 minutes Questions: This paper will examine topics 1-10. The paper may include multiple-choice, short open, open-response, calculations and extended writing questions

Paper 2: Core Physics 2 (Internal exam) 80 marks 1 hour 30 minutes Questions: This paper will examine topics 1-2 and 11-17. The paper may include multiple-choice, short open, open-response, calculations and extended writing questions.

Assessment by public examinations in Year 13

Paper 1: Advanced Physics 1 (Public exam) 30% of A level 90 marks 1 hour 45 minutes Questions: This paper will examine topics 1-10 and 18-25. The paper may include multiple-choice, short open, open-response, calculations and extended writing questions

Paper 2: Advanced Physics 2 (Public exam) 30% of A level 90 marks 1 hour 45 minutes Questions: This paper will examine topics 1-2, 11-17 and 26-32. The paper may include multiple-choice, short open, open-response, calculations and extended writing questions.

Paper 3: General and Practical Principles in Physics (Public exam) 40% of A level 120 marks 2 hours 30 minutes Questions: Questions in this paper may draw on any of the topics in this specification. The paper may include multiple-choice, short open, open-response, calculations and extended writing questions.

Career value

Physics is essential and compliments Mathematics for those wishing to study all branches of engineering and astronomy. It can also be taken with the other sciences, Chemistry and Biology, leading to careers in medicine, veterinary science, pharmacy and forensics.
