Bishop Thomas Grant School is a leading 11-18 Catholic co-educational school situated at the top of Streatham Common. The school provides outstanding pastoral care and encouragement to all students within the setting of a Christian community. Students experience high academic standards in the classroom and are given opportunities to pursue a range of activities and interests outside their lessons. The school offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses across all key stages. It is important for our students to aim high and we have a track record of ensuring that they progress at all levels. Overview:

The school has an outstanding ethos and environment for learning. The PE department offers students an extensive and varied curriculum and extra-curriculum programme, including academic PE at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Students can opt to study GCSE PE or BTEC Sport Level 2 at Key Stage 4 as well as ‘A’ level PE & BTEC Sport Level 3 at Key Stage 5. The subject enjoys huge popularity and achieves outstanding results across the Key Stages. In 2019 the department achieved 100% 9-5 in GCSE PE, 100% D*-P in BTEC Sport Level 2, 100% A*-A at A-Level PE and 100% DDM to D*D*D* in BTEC Sport Level 3, with one pupil winning BTEC Student of the Year in the UK in 2018.

Bishop Thomas Grant PE Department offers an extensive extra-curricular programme as well, running over 300 fixtures a year. We regularly achieve sporting success in football, rugby, basketball, netball, trampolining, cricket and table tennis at local level, district level and even national level.

What we are looking for:

A genuine passion for teaching PE

The ability to be an outstanding PE teacher across both practical and academic PE up to and including A Level PE

The willingness to work as part of a motivated and dedicated team towards the delivery of the PE department’s extensive extra-curricular programme

The ability to lead on one of our many extra-curricular sports in particular; Rugby, Basketball, Netball, Cricket and Athletics. A coaching qualification in one of these sports is desirable.

Willingness to assist with the organisation of the South London sporting competitions we run in the department
