What will I be studying?

A level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care allows students to develop the skills and personal qualities needed toto work within the industry or to progress onto further education. The core units provide learners with the underpinning knowledge of the sectors whilst the optional selected units will provide learners with the opportunity to consider specific health and social care roles and settings.

Career Progression

A level 3 BTEC in health and social care will equip students with the skills to go straight into employment or allow them to continue to study a level 4 qualification or a University degree. The health and social care sector employs over 4 million people in the UK and covers a vast array of careers including: · Nursing · Midwifery ·Social services ·Probation services ·Physiotherapy ·Pharmacy · Child nursing · Mental Health services · Different therapies (speech and language therapy, drama therapy, art therapy etc.)

Assessment

This course is assessed via a combination of: o internally assessed coursework (IC) o Written exam set by the exam board (E) The units in bold below denotes that are weighted heavier than the other units. Learners must complete the following 4 compulsory units: Unit 1: Human Lifespan (E) Unit 2: Working in Health and Social (E) Unit 5: Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs (IC) They will then complete the following option unit: Unit 14: Physiological Disorders and their Care (IC) 58% Exam 83% Internal mandatory content.
