Course Content

Equivalent to: Three A-Levels

Learners will gain the opportunity to experience and achieve:

  • One coaching awards in a selected sport · First Aid qualification · Child protection qualification · Sport Science lectures at Sporting Universities · Open Day visits for sports students to a variety of different universities · Sport Science fitness testing session at a University · Trip to an outdoor adventure center · Voluntary work in a profession of choice · First aid Qualification · Sports injury workshop Opportunities for Further Education

Assessment

  • Assessed by a portfolio of work referenced against each of the grading criteria in the units (pass, merit, and distinction). · Four Units are written examinations – 25% of your overall grade · Units are assessed individually. · Final grade is a combined score of all units and examinations · Centers are responsible for implementing quality control procedures (Internal Verifier) which is supported by an External Verifier Sample of units to be studied: (E) = Exam Year 12 · Sports Coaching and activity leadership · Working Safely in sport, exercise, health and leisure (E) · Performance Analysis · Physical activity for specific group · Health and fitness testing · Sports injuries and rehabilitation · Sports organisation and development (E) · Improving Fitness · Working in active leisure facilities Year 13 · Body Systems and the effects of physical activity (E) · Sport and exercise Sociology · Business of sport (E) · Practical skills · Nutrition and diet · Organisation of Sport Events · Psychology · Biomechanics and Movement Analysis
