The Friends of Bishop Thomas Grant School

Welcome to the Friends Association page! We have recently restarted the committee and with enthusiasm our aim is to raise money for the school.  The Friends committee is dedicated to running events to raise the much needed funds that are used to provide resources and experiences for the children and community here at Bishop Thomas Grant. We also hope that through these events we can provide opportunities for families to meet, socialise and most importantly have fun.

How does it all work?

The Friends is run by a committee.  We aim to meet at least once a term and with the exception of the AGM, our meetings are very informal and either held in the school meeting room or the pub! As a parent at Bishop Thomas Grant you are automatically a member of the school’s Friends Association.  Anyone with a connection to the school is also very welcome e.g. Grandparents or Childminders. We are always eager to encourage new parents to attend meetings and are open to new ideas.  You may even decide to join the committee! But if that is not for you, you can still get involved by helping at events.

The Friends cannot run without your help and support.  If you have an active interest in contributing to your child’s school, why not give it a try? Of course, the children at school reap the rewards of all the success that the Friends have but, equally, it’s a great way for school families and the community as a whole to get together on a social level – we do aim to have fun in amongst the work!

Sounds great! How can I get involved?

Volunteering: Parent volunteers are the spine of the Friends and we will not get anywhere near the levels of success we hope for, unless we have help.  So if you would like to volunteer your time, please email: friends@btg-secondary.lambeth.sch.uk

Matched Funding: It may be that the company you work for kindly offers matched funding for any fundraising events you have may be involved in at the school.  If we make £500 on the bar at an event and you have helped on the bar, your company may match that amount so we raise £1000 It is impossible to say what companies will offer this matched funding scheme to their employees but it is worth checking it out, especially if you work for a bank, building society, insurance company, car manufacturer or phone company. Please contact us friends@btg-secondary.lambeth.sch.uk to discuss further.
